Coach Castillo First Win as Lady Plainsmen Head Coach

Coach Gabe Castillo earned his first victories as head coach of the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen softball program in thrilling fashion, sweeping Wayland Baptist in a high-scoring doubleheader. The Lady Plainsmen opened the day with a hard-fought 6-5 win in Game One, showing grit and composure down the stretch. With the game tied late, Frank Phillips came through with timely hitting and solid defensive plays to secure the one-run victory, giving Castillo his first win at the helm. 

Game Two proved to be just as dramatic, as the Lady Plainsmen outlasted Wayland Baptist 12-10 in an offensive showdown. Both teams traded runs throughout the contest, but Frank Phillips continued to respond every time Wayland threatened. Clutch at-bats and aggressive base running helped the Lady Plainsmen build just enough of a cushion to hold on for the sweep. The dugout energy and determination reflected the competitive identity Coach Castillo is already instilling into the FPC softball program.  

The doubleheader sweep marks an exciting start to a new era under Coach Castillo's leadership. Winning two close games against Wayland Baptist speaks volumes about the team's belief. As the season moves forward, the Lady Plainsmen will look to build on this momentum and continue growing under their new head coach.
