Lady Plainsmen Use Hot Bats to Split with Trojans
[BORGER – March 15, 2022]
The Lady Plainsmen traveled up to Trinidad, Colorado to take on the Trojans of Trinidad State Junior College in a double header.
The Lady Plainsmen came out strong in the first 2 innings not giving up a run. Trouble hit in the bottom of the 3rdinning as the Trojans exploded for 4 runs. The bottom of the 4th was no better as 6 runs came across for the Trojans having the game sit at 10-0. The Lady Plainsmen were able to avoid the run rule and saw 5 runs come across in the top of the 5th to cut the lead in half. Both teams were able to trade a run apiece making the score 11-6 going into the bottom of the 6th which then saw the Trojans cross the plate 4 more times ending the ball game at 15-6.
The Lady Plainsmen entered game 2 of the double header looking for a split on the day. Things were not looking good as the Trojans took a 10-1 lead after 3 innings scoring 5 in the 1st and 5 in the 3rd. The top of the 4th inning swathe Lady Plainsmen bats come alive as they exploded for a 12-run inning. They never trailed after that as they plated 2 more runs to win game 2 on the day 15-12.
The Lady Plainsmen had some balls leave the yard as you would expect by the runs scored. 6 Lady Plainsmen were able to knock the ball out today with Auzzlyn Benedict, Karla Banegas, and Mica Contreras in game 1 followed by Raylene Zazueta, Christian Moyers, and Yessenia Pena in game 2. Amber Poorbaugh was able to strikeout 6 Trojan batters this afternoon.
The Lady Plainsmen will be back in action on the road to Lamar, CO to take on Lamar Community College for a double header matchup beginning at 1 pm CDT. Follow along on Gamechanger!
