FPC Rodeos Kendra Deskovick qualifies for the College National Finals Rodeo!
FPC Rodeo Team had a great showing to conclude the season at the South Plains College Rodeo hosted in Levelland, TX April 23-25th. FPC Freshman Kendra Deskovick, Avery Kinkelaar, and Amy Hall were the high-point earners of the weekend.
FPC Freshman Kendra Deskovick from Ramona, CA tied for the win in the Long Round in the Women's event of goat-tying with a 6.5 second run! In the Saturday night championship round she once again brought the heat, with a 6.2 second run, the fastest run of the weekend. Her combined time of 6.2 and 6.5 seconds won her the aggregate and the opportunity to rockout with a brand-new trophy guitar presented by South Plains College!
Deskovick has had a lightning Freshman year, winning 3 out of 10 championships, within the ladies event of goat-tying! Her success during the South Plains College Rodeo secured her the opportunity to represent the Caprock Region at the College National Finals Rodeo in June! Kendra is the highest ranked WJCAC Freshman within the ladies event of goat-tying and the high-money earner for the year! "Kendra knows when to turn it on, and you can count on it! Her maturity and tunnel vision when it comes time to level up is met with complete confidence, she is truly a force to be reckoned with." Coach Kaylee Gregg
FPC Freshman Avery Kinkelaar started a young horse "Ruby" in December, and after a long Spring, the pair qualified themselves for a Top 10 Championship Round in the ladies event of Breakaway-roping. Their qualifying time was 3.0 seconds!
FPC Freshman Amy Hall from Freetown, IN persevered through some major trials last week, to once again qualify herself into the Top 10 Championship Round in the women's event of goat-tying!
FPC Freshman Ryder Jamieson from Canfield, Ontario Canada had a great showing in the men's event of Tie-down roping placing 11th in the round on his five-year-old gelding he started in the event this year!
FPC Freshman barrel-racers Addison Pecha and Abbilyn Strandberg made great runs for the weekend, falling just short of the Top 10 out of 74 contestant entries. Addison Pecha from Enid, OK finished 11th with a time of 16.30, the last qualifying time within the top 10 was 16.29! Abbilyn Strandberg from Audubon, MN finished 14th with a time of 16.44!
