Plainsmen Baseball Home Opener
[BORGER – March 9, 2023]
It is finally here, Plainsmen Baseball Opening Day!
Plainsmen Baseball has started their season completely on the road, which is totally by design for head coach Chad Brown. The bitter cold of the Texas Panhandle was a huge factor in this scheduling tactic as the Plainsmen headed east and south for some warmer weather. The warmer weather also brought some tough opponents along with it. The Plainsmen had 7 losses that were decided by 3 runs or less. A complete flip of those results would have the Plainsmen sitting near the top of the standings but are looking to cure some of that with some love from the home crowd.
With this opening day at home, the Plainsmen are also opening conference play which in essence a new season as each team in the WJCAC is 0-0 and looking to start hot to make a run at regionals. The Plainsmen will host the Tejanos of El Paso Community College at Plainsmen Field with 2 double headers beginning on Friday 3/10 at 12:00 PM.
The Plainsmen come into the conference season with a .264 avg, 13 home runs, and 7.57 ERA. The Plainsmen have won their last game and look to continue that momentum with a good home crowd behind them. Come out and support the Plainsmen Baseball team in their home opener! #ProtectThePlains
